Update and fun ad

It’s been a busy month, and as we turn the corner into April, I’m heading into my last lectures of the school year – including a keynote of a BACCHUS Network conference in Salt Lake City. Looking forward to it!

And also looking forward (after finishing my taxes!) to some creative time to work on my lecture content. I’ve got some interesting ideas about bringing two passions of my life together at last. Now it’s just a matter of carving out time to see if that can work.

The Pope made his first trip to Africa. In his infinite wisdom, he said that condoms are not a solution to the HIV epidemic, but instead are part of the problem. What?

This is what our tax dollars have been supporting, amounting to a 1.5 billion dollar disaster that fails our country’s youth. Recall that I referenced Ellen Goodman’s insightful column one month ago that talked about the triumph of ideology over science, and how I’m hopeful that will change with the new presidential administration.

Happy December! Time for something a little lighter, and since I’ll be heading to Japan (and Taiwan) later this month, I wanted to share a cute (and yet strangely disturbing) bean-promoting ad from Japan. There are many of these (check YouTube); in each, a dog (shiba) bean (mame) magically appears, giving some factual trivia that’s not so pleasing to the person who’s eating.
